COURSE CURRICULUM

The MBA for Professionals is a 42-unit program designed for working individuals seeking to advance their managerial skills while continuing their careers. The program includes 27 units of advanced management courses that provide a comprehensive foundation in key business areas. These courses cover leadership communication, developing and managing people (which fulfills the GWAR requirement), financial accounting, marketing management, law and ethics, managerial decision analysis, financial management, and operations and supply chain management. Students also complete a Silicon Valley Experience course tailored for professionals, offering insights into real-world business practices and innovation. Additionally, students choose one course focused on global business, international experience, or information technology, allowing them to broaden their understanding of the global and digital business environment.In addition to core coursework, students complete 12 units of electives, selecting four courses based on their professional interests and career goals. These electives provide flexibility to deepen expertise in specific areas such as finance, marketing, leadership, or analytics. With approval from the MBA director, students may include one upper-division undergraduate business course or a non-business graduate course to expand their learning scope.The program concludes with a 3-unit culminating experience through the Strategic Thinking course, which serves as a capstone project. In this course, students integrate knowledge from across the program to analyze complex business challenges and develop strategic solutions. Overall, the MBA for Professionals program combines foundational business knowledge, flexible specialization, and practical application, preparing graduates for leadership roles and career advancement in a competitive business environment.
