COURSE CURRICULUM

The Early Career MBA is a 42-unit program designed to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in business management while developing practical leadership and decision-making skills. The program includes 27 units of advanced management courses that cover key functional areas of business. These courses include business communications, developing and managing people (which fulfills the GWAR requirement), financial accounting, marketing management, law and ethics, managerial decision analysis, financial management, and operations and supply chain management. In addition, students complete the Silicon Valley Experience course, which offers exposure to real-world business environments and innovation ecosystems. Students must also choose one course focused on either global business or information technology, allowing them to gain insights into international markets or emerging digital tools in business.In addition to the core coursework, students complete 12 units of electives, selecting four courses based on their interests and career goals. These electives provide flexibility to explore specialized areas such as finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, or analytics. With approval from the MBA director, students may include one upper-division undergraduate business course or a non-business graduate course to broaden their learning experience.The program concludes with a 3-unit culminating experience through the Strategic Thinking course, which serves as a capstone project. In this course, students integrate knowledge from across the curriculum to analyze complex business problems and develop strategic solutions. Overall, the Early Career MBA program combines core business fundamentals, elective flexibility, and practical application, preparing graduates for managerial roles and leadership positions in a dynamic and competitive business environment.
