COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Arts in Psychology requires a total of 30 units and is designed to provide advanced training in psychological theory, research methods, and statistical analysis. The program includes 12 units of core courses, such as General Seminar (which fulfills the GWAR requirement), Seminar in Experimental Psychology, Multivariate Analysis, and Advanced Statistics, which together build strong research and analytical skills. Students also complete 12 units of breadth coursework by selecting four seminars from areas such as personality theory, developmental psychology, physiological psychology, cognitive psychology, language, social psychology, learning, or perception, allowing them to gain broad exposure across major fields of psychology. The program culminates in a 6-unit Master’s Thesis (Plan A), where students conduct independent research under faculty supervision, demonstrating their ability to apply scientific methods and contribute to psychological knowledge. In addition, students complete 3 units of electives to further tailor their studies. Overall, the program emphasizes rigorous research training, critical thinking, and statistical expertise, preparing graduates for doctoral study or research-oriented careers in psychology and related fields.
