COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology with a concentration in Manufacturing Systems is a 120-unit program designed to prepare students for technical and management careers in modern manufacturing industries. The degree combines foundational science, mathematics, engineering principles, and hands-on technical training with a strong focus on innovative, automated, and sustainable production systems. In the major preparation phase, students study general chemistry, engineering fundamentals, calculus for technical applications, Python programming, and physics to build a strong analytical and scientific base. The curriculum also introduces students to engineering technology careers and problem-solving approaches used in industry. The core major requirements include courses in engineering reporting, electronics, networks, lean methodology, and a senior project sequence that develops real-world design and management skills. Students also complete a course on technology and civilization to understand the broader social and industrial impact of engineering systems. The Manufacturing Systems concentration provides specialized training in areas such as computer-aided graphics, materials science, quality assurance, machine shop operations, facilities design, automation and robotics, product design and prototyping, polymers and composites, 3D printing, manufacturing analysis, and smart manufacturing systems. These courses equip students with skills needed to work in advanced manufacturing environments that rely on digital tools, automation, and data-driven production strategies. In addition, students are required to complete a business minor covering accounting, statistics, project management, organizational behavior, and professional ethics, ensuring they also develop leadership and managerial competencies. All major and preparation courses must be completed with a grade of “C-” or better, except ENGR 100W, which requires a “C” or higher. Overall, the program prepares graduates for careers in manufacturing design, operations, automation, and industrial management, with a strong emphasis on sustainability, efficiency, and modern smart manufacturing technologies.
