COURSE CURRICULUM

Across all concentrations, students build a strong foundation in core business principles such as financial and managerial accounting, economics, business statistics, finance, marketing, operations management, organizational behavior, strategic management, and business ethics, along with essential communication and critical thinking skills supported through general education and writing-in-the-disciplines requirements. Most programs require foundational preparation courses like ECON 1A/1B, ENGL 2, MATH 70, BUS1 20, and BUS2 90, with additional discipline-specific prerequisites depending on the concentration. Degree structures typically include lower-division and upper-division general education, major preparation courses, core business requirements, concentration-specific coursework, and university electives, with total graduation requirements generally around 120 units. Each concentration emphasizes a unique professional direction: Accounting focuses on auditing, taxation, and financial reporting; AIS and MIS integrate accounting or business with information systems, programming, databases, and analytics; Business Analytics emphasizes data-driven decision-making, statistical modeling, and optimization; Finance develops expertise in investments, corporate finance, and financial institutions; Corporate Finance Management combines accounting and finance for leadership roles; Entrepreneurship focuses on innovation and venture creation; International Business prepares students for global markets and includes study abroad components; Management emphasizes leadership, organizational behavior, and strategic decision-making; Human Resource Management focuses on staffing, training, compensation, and labor relations; Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management prepares students for service and tourism industries; and General Business provides flexible preparation for broad career paths.
