COURSE CURRICULUM

The International Business (IB) concentration within the Business Administration BS program is a 120-unit degree structured to combine general education, core business foundations, and globally focused specialization courses. Students complete lower-division general education requirements alongside American Institutions and writing-intensive coursework, with key preparation in economics, business mathematics, critical thinking, and professional writing. Major preparation ensures a strong foundation in macroeconomics, microeconomics, statistics, accounting, and business communication, while also introducing students to essential analytical and quantitative skills used across business disciplines. The core business curriculum includes financial and managerial accounting, legal environment of business, business statistics, computer tools, and introductory business concepts, followed by upper-division coursework in marketing, operations management, organizational behavior, finance, business analytics, strategic management, global business systems, and professional ethics.The International Business concentration requires 24 units of specialized coursework focused on global business strategy and cross-border management. Required courses include international and comparative management, international business strategy, and global entrepreneurship, along with an additional course in areas such as global negotiation, emerging economies, or country-specific business studies (e.g., Japan, India, or China). Students also complete 12 units of concentration electives, which may include international marketing, international finance, project management, global leadership, and entrepreneurship-focused seminars, or they may follow an approved area of specialization such as industry studies, regional studies, functional business areas, or language-based study.A defining feature of the program is its emphasis on international experience and global exposure, often integrated through study abroad or global coursework. Students are encouraged to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world global contexts, strengthening their cultural awareness and adaptability. University electives provide additional flexibility for interdisciplinary learning. To graduate, students must maintain minimum grade requirements (typically C- or better in concentration courses and C or better in foundational subjects) and complete all 120 units. Overall, the program prepares graduates for careers in multinational corporations, global consulting, international marketing and finance, trade, tourism, and public or non-profit organizations, equipping them with the skills needed to operate effectively in a highly interconnected global economy.
