COURSE CURRICULUM

Across the various Business Administration BS concentrations—such as Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Business Analytics, Corporate Finance Management, Finance, General Business, Entrepreneurship, Marketing-related tracks, and Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management—the overall degree structure follows a consistent 120-unit framework combining general education, business foundations, and specialized concentration coursework. Students typically complete core lower-division GE requirements alongside American Institutions and writing-intensive courses, followed by foundational preparation in economics (micro and macro), business mathematics, critical thinking, and communication. Major preparation commonly includes introductory accounting (financial and managerial), business statistics, legal environment of business, computer tools, and first-year business orientation courses, ensuring students build a unified base across all business disciplines. Upper-division business core courses cover marketing, operations management, organizational behavior, finance, business analytics, strategic management, global business, ethics, and business systems, which provide a broad managerial and analytical perspective applicable to multiple industries. Each concentration then adds specialized coursework: Accounting and AIS focus on financial reporting, auditing, taxation, information systems, and internal controls; Business Analytics emphasizes data mining, statistical modeling, visualization, and predictive and prescriptive analytics; Finance and Corporate Finance tracks develop skills in investments, financial institutions, valuation, and capital management; Entrepreneurship focuses on innovation, startups, and venture creation; General Business offers flexible electives for broad career preparation; and Hospitality, Tourism, and Event Management emphasizes service operations, hotel and restaurant management, event planning, and tourism marketing. Across all concentrations, students must maintain minimum grades (typically C or C-) in key prerequisite and major courses, especially in accounting, economics, mathematics, and writing-intensive classes.
