COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting is a 120-unit program designed to prepare students for professional careers in accounting, auditing, taxation, and financial management across corporate, public, and nonprofit sectors. The curriculum combines a broad business education with specialized accounting training, ensuring students develop both analytical and managerial skills needed to interpret financial information and support organizational decision-making. Students begin with major preparation courses in macroeconomics, microeconomics, critical thinking and writing, and business mathematics, along with a required writing-in-the-disciplines course that strengthens professional communication skills. The core business curriculum includes foundational lower-division courses in financial accounting, legal environment of business, statistics, computer tools, and first-year business experience, followed by upper-division coursework in marketing, operations management, management and organizational behavior, finance, and business analytics. These courses are further integrated through studies in global business, business systems and policy, strategic management, professional ethics, and global perspectives, giving students a comprehensive understanding of how organizations operate in a global economy. The accounting concentration itself requires 24 units, including essential foundation courses such as accounting information systems, intermediate accounting I and II, management accounting and control systems, and taxation of businesses and investments. Students then choose advanced electives in areas such as auditing, forensic accounting, advanced accounting, nonprofit accounting, taxation of individuals, and IT-related accounting topics, allowing them to tailor their specialization toward specific career goals. The program also emphasizes academic performance standards, requiring a minimum grade of C in accounting foundation courses and maintaining a 2.0 GPA across business coursework. In addition, students complete university electives to broaden their academic experience and support interdisciplinary learning.
