COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Dance is a 120-unit interdisciplinary program that integrates rigorous technical training, creative choreography, performance experience, and academic study to prepare students for careers in the professional dance world and related creative industries. The curriculum is designed to develop dancers as skilled performers, thoughtful artists, and informed scholars by combining studio practice with courses in dance history, world dance cultures, production, pedagogy, and kinesiology. Students begin their studies with foundational coursework in dance in world cultures, dance appreciation, and visual or performing arts exposure, along with required writing or communication courses that support academic and professional development. A significant portion of the degree is dedicated to technical dance training, where students progress through multiple levels of technique in their chosen concentration and may repeat courses to continually refine their physical skills, versatility, and artistry. Alongside technique, students engage in structured choreography courses that guide them from improvisation and basic composition to advanced choreographic work, allowing them to develop their own creative voice and original works.
