COURSE CURRICULUM

The Behavioral Science (BA) degree requires a total of 120 units and is designed to provide students with a strong interdisciplinary foundation in understanding human behavior through anthropology, psychology, and sociology; students complete 25 units of lower-division general education (with some overlap from major courses), 9 units of upper-division GE, 2 units of physical education, and 3 units of writing (GWAR/WID), along with American Institutions requirements, while also having 27 units of university electives for flexibility. The major itself consists of 48 units, beginning with 15 units of core courses that introduce key disciplines, including cultural anthropology, psychology, sociology, behavioral science practice, and a statistics course to build analytical skills. Students are also required to complete at least one research methods course, ensuring they gain practical experience in data collection and analysis. Beyond the core, the program requires 9 units each in anthropology, psychology, and sociology, with at least two upper-division courses in each area, allowing students to explore each discipline in depth and develop a well-rounded perspective. Additionally, students complete a 6-unit area of specialization by selecting upper-division courses across these fields, enabling them to focus on specific interests or career goals. Overall, the program combines theoretical knowledge, research skills, and interdisciplinary coursework to prepare graduates for careers involving social science data and human interaction, as well as for advanced study in related fields.
