COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Professional Studies at RIT is a 33-credit individualized graduate program that allows students to design a fully customized degree by combining coursework from two chosen concentration areas drawn from more than 50 graduate programs across the university. The curriculum begins with a foundational course, Context and Trends, which helps students understand emerging industry developments and structure their personalized academic plan, followed by graduate courses in both Concentration A and Concentration B to build interdisciplinary depth and flexibility. In the first year, students take one course from each concentration and then continue expanding both areas in the spring, with additional emphasis on their primary concentration to develop stronger expertise while still maintaining breadth across disciplines. In the second year, students enroll in the Proposal Seminar, which guides them in designing and structuring their capstone project while continuing advanced coursework or electives within their selected concentrations to further refine their academic focus. The program concludes with a Capstone Project, where students integrate knowledge from both concentration areas to solve a real-world problem, complete a research-based inquiry, or produce a professional deliverable that demonstrates applied interdisciplinary learning.
