COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Information Technology and Analytics at Rochester Institute of Technology is a 30-credit graduate program designed to prepare students for careers in data-driven decision-making, information systems, and applied analytics. The curriculum combines database management, data science, statistics, and information retrieval to equip students with the technical and analytical skills needed in modern information-intensive industries.In the first year, students build a strong foundation in core areas of data and information systems. The fall semester includes Database Design and Implementation, Visual Analytics, and Applied Statistics, providing essential skills in structuring data, visualizing insights, and applying statistical reasoning. In the spring, students progress to more advanced topics such as Foundations of Data Science and Analytics, Non-Relational Data Management, and Information Retrieval and Text Mining. These courses emphasize working with large-scale, unstructured, and complex datasets while developing practical data analysis and information processing skills.The second year focuses on specialization and applied practice. Students take Scholarship in Information Technology and Analytics along with an elective course in the fall, allowing them to deepen their expertise in a chosen area. In the final spring semester, students complete a culminating experience through either a project, capstone, or thesis option.
