COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering is a 30-credit graduate program designed to develop advanced skills in systems thinking, optimization, and data-driven decision-making. The program prepares students to design, analyze, and improve complex systems across industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, and service operations.The curriculum is structured over two years and includes core courses, electives, and a culminating project or capstone experience. In the first semester, students take foundational courses in systems modeling and optimization and engineering of systems, which introduce mathematical and analytical methods for improving system performance. A graduate seminar also helps students engage with current research topics in industrial and systems engineering. An elective course allows early customization based on student interests.In the spring semester of the first year, students continue building analytical skills through design of experiments, a key course in statistical analysis and process improvement. Additional electives and graduate electives provide flexibility to deepen knowledge in specialized areas such as operations research, quality engineering, or data analytics.During the second year, students complete additional electives to strengthen their expertise and tailor their academic focus. These courses allow students to explore advanced topics relevant to their career goals and industry interests.The final semester is dedicated to a culminating experience, which can be completed either as a project with a written paper or an engineering capstone.
