COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Finance is a STEM-designated graduate program designed to build strong quantitative, analytical, and applied financial decision-making skills. The curriculum is structured across one academic year and a summer term, totaling 31 credits, and combines core finance foundations with advanced electives in finance and STEM-related analytical fields.In the first semester, students begin with foundational business and finance courses. Accounting for Decision Makers develops an understanding of financial reporting and managerial accounting concepts, while Financial Analysis for Managers focuses on interpreting financial data for strategic decisions. Securities and Investment Analysis introduces valuation techniques, portfolio theory, and market instruments. A finance elective allows early specialization in areas such as corporate finance, investments, or financial markets.The second semester emphasizes advanced financial instruments and quantitative applications. Options and Futures provides knowledge of derivatives markets, risk management, and hedging strategies. Students continue building expertise through additional finance electives and STEM electives, which may include data analytics, programming, statistics, or computational finance tools. This integration strengthens technical and analytical capability for modern financial roles.In the summer term, students complete a Field Exam Preparatory course designed to reinforce core concepts and prepare for comprehensive assessment. They also take additional finance and STEM electives to deepen specialization in areas such as fintech, financial modeling, algorithmic trading, or data-driven finance.Overall, the program is designed to prepare graduates for careers in investment banking, corporate finance, portfolio management, risk analysis, financial consulting, and fintech industries.
