COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Environmental, Health and Safety Management at Rochester Institute of Technology is a 30-credit graduate program designed to prepare students for leadership roles in environmental compliance, workplace safety, and corporate sustainability. The curriculum is structured over two years and combines technical, managerial, and research-based learning to develop professionals capable of managing integrated environmental, health, and safety (EHS) systems within modern organizations. Students also select professional electives to begin tailoring their expertise to specific areas within the EHS field.In the second semester of the first year, students advance into more applied and systems-based learning through courses like EHS Management System Design and Integrating EHS Management. These courses focus on designing and implementing structured safety and environmental management systems within organizations. In the second year, students take EHS Internal Auditing, which develops skills in compliance evaluation, risk assessment, and regulatory auditing practices. The program concludes with a flexible culminating experience, where students may choose between a comprehensive exam, a graduate project, or a thesis pathway depending on their career goals.
