COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Applied and Computational Mathematics at Rochester Institute of Technology (Thesis Track) offers a structured yet flexible 30-credit curriculum that emphasizes advanced mathematical theory, computational techniques, and research. In the first year, students build a strong academic foundation through a combination of graduate core courses and electives, along with participation in Graduate Seminar I and II, which help develop research awareness and communication skills. The fall semester includes two core courses and one elective, while the spring semester continues with another core course and additional electives, allowing students to begin specializing in areas such as modeling, data analysis, or computational methods. In the second year, the focus shifts primarily to independent research and thesis development. Students enroll in research and thesis courses across both semesters, working closely with faculty to investigate a specific problem in applied mathematics or computational science. An additional elective in the fall semester provides further depth in a chosen specialization.
