COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Fine Arts Studio is a two-year, 60-credit program designed to develop advanced artistic practice, critical thinking, and professional readiness in contemporary visual arts. The curriculum emphasizes intensive studio work, interdisciplinary exploration, research, and the development of a cohesive artistic identity leading to a final thesis exhibition.In the first year, students focus on building foundational studio practice and conceptual development. Courses such as Technology in the Studio and Ideation and Series help students expand technical skills and develop sustained bodies of creative work. The program centers on Major Studio coursework, where students engage deeply in their chosen discipline while experimenting with materials and approaches. Open electives and professional electives allow for cross-disciplinary learning and broader artistic exploration.The second year shifts toward professional development and thesis preparation. Students take Business Practices for Studio Artists, which introduces career strategies, exhibition planning, and professional art-world engagement. Research Methods and Publication strengthens critical writing and documentation skills, while Research and Thesis supports the development of a substantial artistic project.The final stage of the program is the MFA Thesis, a capstone experience in which students produce and present a public exhibition of their work. This thesis represents the culmination of their artistic, conceptual, and technical development.
