COURSE CURRICULUM

The Robotics and Manufacturing Engineering Technology BS curriculum at Rochester Institute of Technology for 2025–2026 is a 124-credit, five-year program that blends engineering theory, hands-on laboratory work, and extensive industry experience. In the first year, students build a foundation in calculus, engineering fundamentals, and manufacturing processes, along with practical exposure through machine tools labs and communication-focused coursework. The second year deepens technical knowledge with subjects such as statics, multivariable calculus, automation control systems, circuits, and robotics, helping students understand both mechanical and electrical systems used in modern manufacturing.In the third year, students advance into specialized topics like digital and microcontroller systems, electronics manufacturing, chemistry for engineers, and statistics, along with developing professional communication skills. A key component of the program begins here with cooperative education (co-op), where students participate in full-time, paid industry work experiences during multiple terms, gaining real-world exposure.The fourth year emphasizes applied engineering concepts such as fluid power, heat transfer, quality engineering, supply chain operations, and design for manufacturing and assembly, along with general education immersion and global perspective courses. Additional co-op experiences continue to strengthen technical and professional skills.In the final year, students complete a senior design project, applying their accumulated knowledge to solve practical engineering problems, along with finishing electives and immersion requirements. Overall, the curriculum integrates technical expertise with real-world experience, preparing graduates for careers in robotics, automation, advanced manufacturing, and engineering technology fields.
