COURSE CURRICULUM
The Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics Engineering Technology at Rochester Institute of Technology is a structured, hands-on program that integrates mechanical, electrical, computer, and automation engineering to prepare students for modern smart systems and robotics industries. The curriculum is designed to build strong foundations in science, mathematics, and engineering principles in the early years, followed by advanced technical specialization and extensive industry experience through cooperative education. This year also includes the first major cooperative education (co-op) experience, where students gain real-world, paid industry experience. The fourth year introduces advanced concepts including control systems, mechatronic system design, and statistical analysis, along with continued co-op rotations and general education immersion courses. In the final year, students take specialized courses such as fluid power applications, heat transfer, engineering economics, and advanced technical electives in areas like robotics, microcontrollers, and automation systems. The program concludes with a senior design project that integrates all areas of learning into a real engineering solution. Across the curriculum, students complete 126 credit hours, combining classroom learning, laboratory experience, co-op industry training, and a capstone project. This ensures graduates are well-prepared for careers in robotics, automation, aerospace, manufacturing, and intelligent systems industries.
