COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Rochester Institute of Technology features a well-structured curriculum that blends interdisciplinary learning with practical experience. In the first year, students focus on foundational general education courses alongside introductory WGSS topics, including core subjects like Foundations of Women and Gender Studies or LGBTQ+ Studies, as well as feminist inquiry. The second year builds on this base with key courses such as feminist leadership and activism for gender justice, while also incorporating global, artistic, and immersion perspectives, along with flexible electives. In the third year, students expand their knowledge through advanced seminars, including the collaborative learning seminar, and begin focusing on their chosen concentration area, supported by science-based and elective coursework. The fourth year emphasizes specialization and real-world application, with students completing applied concentration courses and selecting an experiential capstone option such as a co-op, internship, research, or project.
