COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Global Public Health at Rochester Institute of Technology is a structured, science-based program designed to prepare students for careers in healthcare, epidemiology, policy, and global health practice. The 2025–2026 curriculum combines biology, public health theory, statistics, and applied field experience with strong emphasis on real-world problem solving and health system understanding.In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through courses such as Introduction to Public Health, Human Diseases, and Human Biology with laboratory work. Alongside these science-based courses, students complete writing, social science, and general education requirements to develop strong communication and analytical skills.The second year expands into applied public health topics including nutrition, psychology, public policy, and health communication. Students also begin studying global health systems and legal aspects of healthcare, while strengthening quantitative skills through statistics courses. A required experiential learning component introduces early real-world exposure to public health practice.In the third year, students focus on more advanced and specialized topics such as epidemiology, global mental health, healthcare finance, and technology in public health. They also select concentration courses aligned with their chosen track (such as global health management or infectious diseases), along with open electives and immersive general education experiences.The final year emphasizes integration and leadership in public health. Students study health systems, program planning and evaluation, biomedical ethics, and research foundations, culminating in a senior seminar. Additional coursework in leadership, communication, and electives helps prepare students for professional practice or graduate study.
