COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Global Futures at Rochester Institute of Technology is an interdisciplinary and future-focused program designed to help students understand and shape global change through foresight, analysis, and ethical decision-making. Although the full 2025–2026 curriculum is still being finalized, the program is structured around core courses, thematic modules, and general education requirements that build both analytical and creative skills for studying global systems and future trends.At the core of the program are foundational courses such as Global Futures, which examines how globalization, technology, and shifting cultural and political systems are reshaping human experience, and Futures by Design: Methods for Change, which focuses on ethical foresight methods like scenario planning, trend analysis, and human-centered design. These courses help students critically evaluate global challenges such as inequality, climate change, conflict, and technological disruption while considering ethical responsibilities in shaping the future.Students also complete intermediate modern language study and engage in several interdisciplinary modules. The Methods Module develops skills in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed research approaches, while the Global Technologies and Ethical Futures Module explores topics like artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and sustainability from social and ethical perspectives. The Global Issues Module focuses on pressing global challenges, and the Transformative Tools Module provides practical skills in data analysis, coding, visualization, and project management.In addition to these core components, students complete first-year writing, extensive general education requirements, and open electives, allowing for a well-rounded academic experience. Admissions expectations include strong preparation in English, social studies, mathematics, and science. Overall, the Global Futures BS prepares students to become forward-thinking professionals capable of analyzing complex global systems and designing innovative, ethical solutions for the future.
