COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Finance at Rochester Institute of Technology is a 123-credit program that provides a strong foundation in business, economics, and financial management, combined with practical experience. In the first year, students are introduced to core business concepts through courses in financial and management accounting, microeconomics and macroeconomics, information systems, and business communication, along with applied calculus and writing. This foundation helps students understand how businesses operate and how financial decisions are made.In the second year, the curriculum advances into specialized business and finance topics such as financial management, marketing, organizational behavior, and data analytics, while also strengthening statistical skills. Students begin taking finance electives and develop communication and decision-making abilities essential for the industry.During the third year, students focus on more advanced financial concepts, including investments, financial analysis, and modeling, alongside operations management and business ethics. General education courses and immersion experiences enhance their broader understanding, while finance electives allow for deeper specialization. A cooperative education (co-op) experience during the summer provides valuable hands-on, real-world exposure in finance-related roles.In the fourth year, students complete advanced coursework, including strategic management, along with remaining finance electives and general education requirements. Open electives provide flexibility to explore additional interests or skills. Overall, the program blends theoretical knowledge with practical application, preparing graduates for careers in banking, investment analysis, corporate finance, and financial consulting, while also building a strong foundation for further studies in business or finance.
