COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Applied Statistics and Data Analytics at RIT is a structured four-year program that develops strong skills in mathematics, computing, and statistical reasoning to prepare students for careers in data-driven industries. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through courses in principles of computing, calculus, mathematics and statistics seminars, and general education subjects, helping them develop essential analytical and problem-solving abilities. The second year focuses on core mathematical and statistical foundations, including multivariable calculus, discrete mathematics, probability, statistics, linear algebra, and statistical inference, along with general education requirements in ethics, science, writing, and global and social perspectives.In the third year, students move into more applied and advanced statistical topics such as regression analysis and design of experiments while selecting program electives that allow them to tailor their studies to specific interests in data analytics or applied statistics. General education immersion courses further enhance interdisciplinary understanding and critical thinking. The fourth year emphasizes advanced statistical theory and practice through mathematical statistics courses, along with a senior capstone project and experiential learning requirement that provide hands-on experience in solving real-world data problems. Students also complete additional electives to deepen their expertise or explore complementary fields.Overall, the program totals 120 credit hours and combines mathematical theory, statistical methods, computing skills, and practical application. It prepares students for careers in data science, analytics, business intelligence, healthcare analytics, government research, quality control, and forecasting, as well as for advanced graduate study. Graduates gain the ability to collect, analyze, interpret, and apply data to solve complex problems and support decision-making across a wide range of industries.
