COURSE CURRICULUM

Master of Science (M.S.) in Industrial and Management Engineering (IME) program are required to complete a minimum of 18 credit hours of graduate-level courses approved by the Graduate Program Director (GPD) and designated with an ISYE prefix, providing a strong foundation in core industrial and systems engineering principles. In addition, students must take two or more courses from the School of Engineering within an adviser-approved, application-focused track area, allowing for specialization in a field aligned with their professional or research interests. The M.S. program also includes a 6-credit master’s thesis, which requires students to conduct independent, original research under the guidance of a faculty adviser. This thesis component enables students to apply advanced analytical, statistical, and computational techniques to address real-world engineering, managerial, or operational problems, fostering both technical depth and research competence. By combining rigorous coursework, specialized track courses, and a research-based thesis, the M.S. in IME equips students with the skills necessary for careers in industry, consulting, or government, as well as for further doctoral study. The program emphasizes the integration of quantitative methods, engineering principles, and practical problem-solving, producing graduates who are well-prepared to contribute to innovation, efficiency, and decision-making in complex industrial and management systems.
