COURSE CURRICULUM

Master of Science (M.S.) without thesis in Electrical Engineering (ELEC) or Computer and Systems Engineering (CSYS) must meet both Institute requirements and program-specific criteria to ensure a rigorous, professional-level education. The program requires the completion of a total of 30 graduate-level credits, with at least 18 credits taken at the 6000 level to provide advanced coursework and technical depth. A minimum of 18 credits must be completed within the ECSE Department to ensure specialized knowledge in electrical, computer, or systems engineering. Students are also required to complete at least one mathematics elective, typically 3–4 credits with a MATH or MATP prefix, to support analytical and computational skills essential for engineering problem-solving. Up to six transfer credits may be applied toward the degree, allowing for some flexibility in prior graduate coursework. Additionally, no more than three credits of Independent Study (ECSE 6940) may count toward the degree, and courses at the 1000- or 2000-level are not eligible, ensuring that all credit contributes to graduate-level learning. These requirements collectively provide a structured, coursework-focused curriculum designed to equip students with the technical expertise, analytical abilities, and professional skills needed for immediate entry into engineering practice or applied research roles in industry.
