COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science program in Economics requires students to complete a set of core courses designed to provide a strong foundation in applied economic analysis and quantitative methods. Required coursework includes ECON 6010 – Applied Microeconomics & Public Policy, which equips students with tools to analyze and evaluate public policy and economic decision-making; ECON 6030 – Data Analysis in Economics & Finance, focusing on statistical and computational methods for analyzing economic and financial data; and ECON 6130 – Economics of Growth and Innovation, which examines the drivers of economic development, technological change, and innovation in modern economies. In addition to these core courses, students have the flexibility to select from a wide range of electives to tailor their academic experience to their specific interests and career goals. Elective options include 4000- or 6000-level courses offered by the Economics Department, as well as appropriate courses from complementary fields such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Management, allowing students to build interdisciplinary skills relevant to applied economics. Students may also engage in independent study or research projects, providing opportunities to explore specialized topics, develop analytical expertise, and apply quantitative methods to real-world economic problems. This flexible curriculum ensures that graduates are well-prepared for careers in industry, government, or further academic research.
