COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Business Analytics at Rensselaer’s Lally School of Management combines a rigorous curriculum in business and analytics with practical, hands-on learning to prepare students for leadership roles in a data-driven world. The program requires nine credits of business core courses, including Foundations of Data Science, Managing Digitization and Transformation, and Introduction to Accounting and Financial Management, ensuring students gain essential business knowledge. The 15-credit analytics core develops advanced skills through courses such as Modeling and Optimization, Introduction to Machine Learning Applications, Advanced Data Resource Management, and a Business Capstone, with spring admits taking MGMT 6840 alongside MBA students. Students then choose between Applied Analytics and Predictive Modeling or Data Analytics to further specialize their technical expertise. In addition, six credits of electives allow students to explore domain-specific areas like Interactive Data Visualization, Machine Learning from Data, Frontiers of Network Science, Data Mining, Supply Chain Analytics, Financial Econometrics Modeling, Internet Marketing, Financial Modeling and Optimization, and Business and Corporate Strategy, enabling personalized learning paths aligned with career goals. Complementing the academic program, two professional development workshops provide mentorship, career guidance, and industry engagement. Together, the curriculum equips graduates with the analytical, technical, and strategic skills necessary to transform complex data into actionable business insights and succeed in diverse organizational contexts.
