COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Human Services at Post University is a 120-credit program designed to prepare students for diverse roles in the human services field through a combination of general education, core coursework, electives, and specialized concentrations. The general education component includes 60 credits covering college writing, literature, communication, digital skills, quantitative methods, statistics, science, social sciences, history, and fine arts. Liberal arts requirements include key courses like Ethical and Legal Issues in Human Services and a variety of electives. The 54-credit major component provides in-depth training through courses such as Introduction to Human Services, Case Management, Social Welfare, Human Service Administration, Human Behavior in the Social Environment, and Multicultural Issues in Human Services. Students also engage in a senior seminar and complete two required practicums to gain real-world experience. The curriculum includes research methods in the social sciences and electives at the 300-400 level. Concentrations allow students to specialize their knowledge in key areas: Child and Family Studies, Counseling, Criminal Justice, or Diversity, Social Justice, and Multicultural Practice. Each concentration consists of 15 credits, offering focused coursework such as Child Welfare, Group Counseling, Juvenile Justice, or Violence Against Women, depending on the chosen path. The College to Career Core includes seminars that help students prepare for academic and professional success. Through this comprehensive and applied curriculum, students build critical knowledge in human development, social systems, and ethical practice, preparing them for careers in social services, counseling, advocacy, and related fields. While the degree does not meet licensure requirements for clinical practice, it provides a strong foundation for graduate study or immediate entry into a variety of human services roles. The program blends academic learning with experiential training to equip students with the tools needed to serve individuals, families, and communities effectively.
