COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Data Science at Post University requires 120 credits and combines mathematics, computer science, and statistics to prepare students for careers in data analysis and problem-solving. The general education component includes 60 credits covering writing, communication, digital skills, liberal arts, social sciences, ethics, history, performance or fine arts, and sciences such as biology or physics. Math requirements include Calculus I and Statistics I. Students also complete 15 credits of open electives and choose one 3-credit leadership course from options like management, communication theory, or computer ethics. The major core and concentration consist of 51 credits, including a designated writing course focused on information presentation, foundational courses in IT, programming principles, Python, data structures, and advanced Excel, as well as advanced mathematics such as Calculus II, Statistics II, and Time Series & Econometrics. Students select four directed electives at the 300-400 level, with two required to be in mathematics at MAT 350 or higher. Concentration options include Big Data and Interdisciplinary Studies. The Big Data track features courses in data mining, machine learning, and independent study, while the Interdisciplinary Studies track allows students to choose electives across disciplines and includes a capstone independent study. The College to Career Core provides additional preparation through seminars aimed at academic and professional success.
