COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Accounting at Post University requires a total of 120 credits and is structured to provide a strong foundation in general education, business principles, and core accounting practices. The general education component consists of 60 credits and includes courses in writing, communication, digital literacy, liberal arts, mathematics, and science. Key foundational courses include College Writing, Literature and Composition, Introduction to Communication, and Digital Skills for College and Career. Students also take electives in history, ethics, law, economics, and fine arts, as well as a designated writing course in Managerial Communications. The program includes 15 credits of open electives, offering students the flexibility to tailor part of their education to individual interests or career goals.The major, core, and concentration coursework totals 54 credits. The business core covers essential subjects such as Financial Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, and Advanced Excel. Students complete a capstone course—Business Policy Seminar—that integrates their learning in a final strategic business project. The accounting major core covers a wide range of essential topics, including Managerial and Cost Accounting, Intermediate Accounting I and II, Taxation, Auditing, Accounting Information Systems, and Advanced Accounting. Students also select electives in accounting at the 100 level or higher and may choose between coursework in data analytics or spreadsheet/general ledger software to match their career aspirations.Additionally, students complete 6 credits in the College to Career Core, including College Success and Professional Success seminars, which focus on career readiness and skill development. This well-rounded curriculum is designed to prepare students for professional roles in accounting and finance, and while it does not fulfill all requirements for CPA or CMA certification, it offers a strong academic foundation toward those goals.
