COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies at Post University requires a total of 120 credits and is designed to equip students with both foundational knowledge and specialized skills in communication. The program includes 63 general education credits, which cover common core courses like College Writing, Literature and Composition, Introduction to Communication, and Digital Skills for College and Career. Liberal arts courses span ethics, history, social sciences, arts, and multiple electives. Mathematics and science are also included with courses like Quantitative Methods or Statistics and a science elective. Students must complete 18 open elective credits. The major core and concentration courses account for 51 credits, beginning with a designated writing course, “Writing for the Communication Profession.” The communication core includes classes on content creation, communication theory, professional presentations, interpersonal communication, mass media, persuasion, group communication, media literacy, research techniques, cross-cultural communication, and a capstone experience through an advanced seminar, internship, or independent study. Students choose one of three 12-credit concentrations: General Communication, which includes upper-level electives; Emerging Media, focusing on social media and multimedia storytelling; or Strategic Communication, covering public relations, social media management, and organizational communication. Additionally, students complete 6 credits in the College to Career Core, which includes college and professional success seminars.
