COURSE CURRICULUM

The Associate of Science in Legal Studies program at Post University is a 60-credit degree that combines general education, legal core courses, and professional development to prepare students for entry-level positions in legal environments or further academic study. The 27-credit general education component builds foundational skills in communication, critical thinking, mathematics, science, and digital literacy, including courses such as College Writing, Literature and Composition, Introduction to Communication, and Digital Skills for College and Career, along with electives in humanities, social sciences, math, and science. The 30-credit major core emphasizes practical legal knowledge and skills, covering areas such as Introduction to Law, Estate Administration and Probate Practice, Real Estate Law and Practice, Civil Litigation Practice, Business Law I and II, Legal Research, and elective courses at the 200–400 level to allow for specialization. Students also gain hands-on experience through a Legal Studies Internship, applying theoretical knowledge in real-world legal settings. Additionally, the College Success Seminar in the College to Career Core equips students with professional, organizational, and career readiness skills. By integrating practical legal competencies, ethical awareness, and critical thinking, this program prepares graduates to support legal teams effectively, understand diverse areas of law, and pursue careers in law firms, corporate legal departments, government agencies, and non-profit organizations, while reinforcing the professional standards expected in the legal field.
