ABOUT UNIVERSITY

Post University, a private for-profit institution located in Waterbury, Connecticut, was originally founded in 1890 as Post College. Initially offering training in typing, bookkeeping, and business writing, the school underwent several name changes and transformations throughout its history. In 1897, Harry C. Post acquired the school and renamed it Waterbury Business College, serving as its first principal. The institution adopted the name Post College again in 1931 and relocated to its current Country Club Road campus in 1965. Significant expansions followed, including the addition of the Leever Student Center and the Traurig Library, as well as the opening of an off-campus site in Meriden in 1970.In 1976, Post became a four-year college offering accelerated degree programs for Vietnam veterans and began awarding baccalaureate degrees in the 1980s. The institution developed athletic facilities to support varsity sports and later formed an affiliation with Teikyo University in the 1990s, becoming Teikyo Post University. It also began offering distance learning programs in 1997. In 2004, it returned to independent governance, was renamed Post University, and expanded its liberal arts and graduate offerings.Post launched Connecticut's first fully online MBA program in 2007. Its business school was renamed the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business in 2012, in honor of the former U.S. Secretary of Commerce. In 2021, the university acquired American Sentinel University, integrating it as the American Sentinel College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Today, Post University offers over 25 undergraduate and graduate programs through day, evening, and online formats.
