COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Ministry is a professional graduate program designed to prepare individuals for a wide range of roles within modern church settings. It is accessible to students from diverse academic backgrounds, as a prior degree in religion or knowledge of biblical languages is not required for admission. The program is especially suited for those with limited time for graduate study or individuals pursuing another profession who seek foundational training in ministry. The curriculum is carefully structured yet broad, ensuring students gain essential insights into both the intellectual and practical dimensions of church life and leadership.The degree requires a total of 36 units, organized into three main categories to provide a well-rounded education. Students complete 12 units in Biblical Studies, including courses in biblical interpretation as well as Old and New Testament studies. Another 12 units are devoted to Practical Theology and Ministry, focusing on areas such as church leadership and applied ministry skills. The final 12 units cover Christian Thought and History, including theology and the historical development of the Christian tradition. After completing coursework, students must pass comprehensive examinations consisting of both written and oral components to demonstrate their mastery of the subject.An additional option allows students to pursue a joint program that combines the MS in Ministry with a Certificate in Dispute Resolution through collaboration with Pepperdine Caruso School of Law. This pathway integrates courses in negotiation, mediation, and arbitration, equipping students with conflict resolution skills relevant to ministry contexts. Overall, the program blends theological knowledge, practical training, and leadership development to prepare graduates for meaningful service in church and community environments.
