COURSE CURRICULUM

The Executive MBA in Operational Effectiveness (EMBA-OE) at Ottawa University is designed to provide advanced professional business education, emphasizing operational efficiency, strategic management, and leadership skills. Prospective students who have not met preparatory requirements must complete at least one undergraduate accounting and one economics course with a minimum grade of “C,” or complete the MBA Math course before enrolling in BUS 7500 Managerial Economics and BUS 7800 Management Accounting, which are also prerequisites for BUS 7600 Managerial Finance. Core courses include BUS 7000 Organizational Behavior and Theory, covering motivation, group dynamics, leadership, and decision-making; BUS 7200 Value Systems & Professional Ethics, examining personal and corporate values and ethical decision-making; BUS 7500 Managerial Economics and BUS 7600 Managerial Finance, focusing on economic and financial decision-making; BUS 7800 Management Accounting, exploring cost analysis, budgeting, and planning; and BUS 8500 Graduate Seminar: Business Policy and Strategy, a capstone integrating prior learning. Operational Effectiveness-specific courses include BUS 7450 Strategic Marketing, BUS 7681 Project Management, BUS 7683 Logistics/Production and Operations Management, BUS 7713 Quality Systems, and HRC 7711 Organizational Change Theory and Strategy, focusing on performance optimization, quality management, and strategic organizational change. Students also complete Executive Practicums (BUS 8701-8702), requiring at least 80 hours of applied experience in operational management and the completion of a practical project, ensuring immediate applicability of classroom knowledge to real-world organizational challenges.
