COURSE CURRICULUM

The MBA in Health Care Management at Ottawa University is designed to equip students with advanced business and leadership skills tailored to the healthcare sector. Prospective students who have not completed preparatory coursework must take at least one undergraduate accounting and one economics course with a minimum grade of “C,” or complete the MBA Math course before enrolling in BUS 7500 Managerial Economics and BUS 7800 Management Accounting, which are prerequisites for BUS 7600 Managerial Finance. The core MBA courses develop foundational expertise in organizational behavior, value systems and ethics, managerial economics, finance, management accounting, and culminate in BUS 8500 Graduate Seminar: Business Policy and Strategy, where students apply learned concepts through a major case study. The Health Care Management concentration emphasizes healthcare-specific knowledge, including BUS 7300 Global Health Care Delivery Systems, exploring national and international healthcare structures, financing, and service deployment, and BUS 7305 Regulatory Systems and Quality Assessment, focusing on regulatory bodies, standards, and quality improvement. Additional courses include BUS 7450 Strategic Marketing, BUS 7700 Management of Information Systems, BUS 7310 Population Health Management, and BUS 7316 Program Development for Improved Outcomes, all providing practical and strategic approaches to healthcare administration. The program includes executive practicums (BUS 8701-8702), requiring students to complete at least 80 contact hours in a healthcare management setting, integrating applied projects with real-world organizational experience to ensure readiness for leadership roles in diverse healthcare environments.
