COURSE CURRICULUM

The MBA program with a concentration in Business Data Analytics (BDA) is designed to equip students with both managerial expertise and practical analytics skills, preparing them for leadership roles in data-driven organizations. Prospective students who have not completed preparatory coursework must take at least one undergraduate accounting and one economics course with a minimum grade of “C” or complete the MBA Math course before enrolling in core courses such as BUS 7500 Managerial Economics and BUS 7800 Management Accounting, which are also prerequisites for BUS 7600 Managerial Finance. Core courses cover essential business disciplines including organizational behavior, ethics, managerial economics, finance, and accounting, culminating in BUS 8500 Graduate Seminar: Business Policy and Strategy, where students develop a major case study applying knowledge from previous courses. The BDA-specific courses—BUS 7700 Management of Information Systems, IT 8000 Data Analytics, IT 7100 Wrangling: Data Visualization, IT 8201 People Analytics, IT 8202 Market Analytics, and IT 8203 Operations Analytics—focus on leveraging data to drive organizational decision-making across human resources, marketing, and operations. Students learn statistical analysis, predictive and prescriptive modeling, and visualization techniques using tools like Tableau, Crystal Reports, and R. The program also includes Executive Practicums (IT 8701-8702), requiring at least 80 hours of applied work in a relevant organization, ensuring students gain hands-on experience and complete an applied project aligned with real-world data analytics practices.
