COURSE CURRICULUM

The Data Analytics undergraduate program follows a structured four-year plan designed to build a strong foundation in business, analytics, and leadership. In the freshman year, students begin with core courses such as Composition I and II, Principles of Management, Foundations of Data Analytics I and II, Intro to Operations Management, Business Process Management, and Philosophy. These courses provide a mix of communication, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Students also explore leadership through NU Experience and Professional Branding & Planning. In the sophomore year, the curriculum deepens with financial and managerial accounting, programming, business software, micro and macroeconomics, statistics, and visual analytics. Leadership development continues through the Emerging Leaders course. Junior year focuses on applying technical skills through courses such as Programming for Data Analysis, Financial Management, Marketing, Linear Algebra, and Data Science for Decision Making. Students also advance their knowledge with courses in data mining, advanced database management, ethics, and social sciences. Senior year emphasizes practical application and integration of prior learning. Students study forecasting and simulation, machine learning, business law, organizational behavior, and environmental science. In the final semester, they complete a capstone project in data analytics, explore big data and cloud computing, and take courses in public policy economics and strategic planning. Electives in history and political science offer flexibility and broaden the academic experience. This curriculum is designed to prepare students for real-world data-driven decision-making roles, blending business acumen with technical and analytical proficiency. The progression ensures that students develop the skills necessary to lead in various industries, culminating in a hands-on capstone project that ties together their academic journey and prepares them for the challenges of the professional world.
