COURSE CURRICULUM

The Economics program at NU offers a comprehensive and structured curriculum designed to build a strong foundation in business, leadership, and economic theory. In the freshman year, students begin with courses in composition, management, marketing, business software, and philosophy, establishing essential communication and business skills. The spring semester introduces microeconomics, public speaking, and math, alongside professional development and advanced writing. Sophomore year deepens students’ understanding through financial and managerial accounting, macroeconomics, and leadership development. They also choose between American Government or Calculus, providing flexibility based on career goals. In the spring, students explore intermediate economic theory and gain historical and environmental awareness, laying the groundwork for advanced analysis.During junior year, the focus shifts to specialized economics electives and statistical methods. Ethics is introduced to help students understand the moral dimensions of economic decision-making.
