COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Applied Computer Science at Northwest requires a total of 30 graduate credit hours, with at least 15 hours at the 600-level. The program combines core computer science principles with applied, project-based learning to prepare students for careers in software development, data management, and mobile or web application design. Required courses include CSIS 44542 Object-Oriented Programming, CSIS 44560 Advanced Topics in Database Systems, CSIS 44563 Developing Web Applications and Services, CSIS 44618 Project Management in Business and Technology, CSIS 44642 Application Design: Patterns and Frameworks, and the two-part CSIS 44691 and 44692 Computer Science Graduate Directed Project I and II. Students also choose one mobile computing course, either CSIS 44643 Mobile Computing – iOS or CSIS 44644 Mobile Computing – Android, depending on their focus. In addition, six credit hours of advisor-approved electives allow for tailored learning to meet career goals or specific interests. This curriculum balances advanced technical skills with applied project experience, ensuring students graduate ready to contribute immediately to competitive, real-world environments in software development, web and mobile application design, database management, and IT project leadership.
