COURSE CURRICULUM

The Physical Education (Comprehensive) program is a structured four-year degree designed to prepare students for teaching physical education at elementary and secondary levels while promoting health, fitness and active lifestyles. The program begins with foundational courses such as composition, digital literacy, oral communication and introductory education classes, along with Foundations of Physical Education, which provides basic knowledge of the field. Early field experiences are introduced from the first term, allowing students to gain practical exposure in real educational settings. In the second term, students study wellness, educational psychology, biology and activities like dance and lifetime fitness, along with observation and practicum experience that includes at least 30 hours of fieldwork. As students progress, they complete core requirements in science, history and global studies, while also taking specialized courses such as elementary health and physical education methods and special education, further supported by field experience.In the second year, the program emphasizes both theory and application through subjects like anatomy and physiology, creative movement, literacy in physical education and mid-level field experiences with increased practical hours. Students must meet academic and professional standards, including passing assessments and maintaining required GPAs, to continue into advanced stages. In the third year, the focus shifts to advanced topics such as exercise physiology, injury prevention, first aid, adapted physical education, biomechanics, nutrition and socio-psychological aspects of health and performance. These courses help students understand the scientific and behavioral aspects of physical activity. The final year prepares students for professional teaching through courses in motor development, assessment in physical education, multicultural education and adolescent psychology. The program concludes with directed teaching and a capstone experience, where students apply all their learning in real classroom settings. Overall, this degree combines academic knowledge, practical training and extensive field experience to prepare students for successful careers as physical education teachers.
