COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA Theatre program is a 4-year (8 semester) degree totaling 120 credit hours and requires a minor along with modern language study (9 credit hours).In the first year, students build a strong foundation with courses like Theatre Foundations, Theatre Appreciation, Acting, and Design Principles in Theatre. They also complete general education subjects such as Composition, Communication, Math, and Computer Technology.During the second year, students develop core theatre skills. Courses include Oral Interpretation, Technical Skills in Theatre (lab-based), and Directing. At the same time, they begin modern language requirements and continue minor coursework. Students must also complete Theatre Advanced Standing by the end of Semester 3.In the third year, the focus shifts to deeper knowledge and specialization. Students study History of Theatre I and II, take Sociology and Government courses, and continue their minor (including 300-level advanced courses). They also complete Theatre Capstone preparation and literature requirements.In the final year, students refine their expertise and gain practical experience. They take advanced theatre design (such as costume, lighting, or scenic design), electives, and complete an Independent Practicum in Theatre. Psychology and humanities courses are also included.Overall, this program balances practical theatre training (acting, directing, design, labs) with academic subjects and a minor field. It prepares students for careers in acting, directing, production, or related creative industries while also building communication, analytical, and creative skills.
