COURSE CURRICULUM

The Systems Management for Agricultural Business and Manufacturing program requirements at Northwest Missouri State University are designed to give students a strong mix of business knowledge and hands-on technical skills. The required coursework, totaling approximately 17–19 credit hours, focuses on building a solid foundation in both management and agricultural systems.Students begin with core courses such as Accounting I and Principles of Management, which provide essential business knowledge needed to manage agricultural operations or manufacturing systems. Alongside this, foundational technical courses like Introduction to Mechanical Systems for Agriculture and Manufacturing and Safety in Agriculture and Manufacturing ensure students understand how equipment works and how to operate safely in real-world environments.The program offers flexibility through course options based on student interests. For example, students can choose between Agricultural Machinery and Equipment, Agricultural Welding or Introduction to Precision Agriculture, allowing them to focus on machinery operation, fabrication or advanced farming technology. Similarly, in another requirement area, students may select courses such as Applied AC/DC Electricity, Agricultural Surveying or an Independent Study, depending on whether they want to develop electrical skills, field measurement techniques or specialized knowledge.Further customization continues with advanced applied courses like Applied Mechatronics, Applied Mechanical Systems, Applied Robotics or Remote Sensing in Agriculture. These options allow students to explore modern technologies used in agriculture and manufacturing, including automation, robotics and data-driven farming systems.In addition to required courses, students complete advisor-approved electives in systems management, giving them the opportunity to deepen their expertise in specific areas aligned with their career goals.
