COURSE CURRICULUM

Northwest Missouri State University offers a four-year bachelor’s degree in emergency and disaster management designed to prepare students for careers in public safety, crisis response, and disaster planning. The second year emphasizes natural sciences, literature, digital literacy, and courses addressing natural disasters, vulnerability, and mitigation, alongside field experiences in emergency and disaster management.The third year integrates advanced courses, including an internship in emergency and disaster management, disaster psychology, and crisis communication, complemented by minor courses and electives to provide specialized knowledge and analytical skills. The final year emphasizes professional development, operational leadership, and exercise and simulation design, allowing students to apply theory to practice.
