COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biology/Psychology Bachelor of Science program at Northwest Missouri State University is a comprehensive four-year curriculum that integrates biological sciences with psychology to provide a deep understanding of human behavior and brain function. In the first year, students build a strong scientific foundation through courses in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and composition, along with an introduction to psychology. The second semester continues with general chemistry, zoology, and composition, strengthening both scientific knowledge and communication skills. In the second year, students begin more advanced coursework, including organic chemistry, abnormal psychology, statistics, and digital literacy. They also study research literacy and select from courses such as physics, biochemistry, or advanced chemistry, along with general education subjects like fine arts and communication.In the third year, the program becomes more specialized, focusing on research and core scientific concepts. Students take courses such as research methods, cell biology, genetics, developmental psychology, and physics, while also completing electives in biology and psychology. These courses help students develop analytical thinking, laboratory skills, and a deeper understanding of biological systems and human development. The fourth year emphasizes advanced and applied learning, including biological psychology, global experiences, and additional upper-level electives. Students also complete a biological science seminar and advanced biological psychology, along with specialized courses such as human physiology or anatomy.Throughout the program, milestone courses ensure students stay on track for timely graduation.
