COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biomedical Sciences – Chiropractic Track Bachelor of Science program at Northwest Missouri State University is a structured four-year curriculum designed to prepare students for chiropractic school and careers in healthcare. In the first year, students build a strong scientific foundation with courses in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and composition, along with a university seminar. The second semester continues with advanced chemistry, medical terminology, psychology, and composition, helping students develop both scientific knowledge and communication skills. In the second year, students begin more specialized coursework, including physics, anatomy, oral communication, and fine arts, followed by physiology, nutrition, literature, and social sciences. These courses provide a deeper understanding of the human body and its functions.In the third year, the program focuses on advanced science and analytical skills. Students take organic chemistry, statistics, biomechanics, and humanities courses, along with U.S. history. They also study biochemistry, biomedical ethics, and complete an internship that provides practical, real-world experience. Additional courses in digital literacy and government help ensure a well-rounded education. Throughout these years, milestone courses ensure that students stay on track for timely completion and meet academic requirements.The final year of the program is unique, as students attend an affiliated chiropractic school where they gain hands-on professional training. Up to 34 credit hours from this experience are transferred back to the university, allowing students to complete their bachelor’s degree while advancing in their chiropractic education. Overall, the program combines rigorous coursework in science with practical experience, preparing students for successful entry into chiropractic programs and future careers in healthcare.
