COURSE CURRICULUM

The Political Science program is a well-structured four-year degree that provides students with a comprehensive understanding of government systems, political behavior and public policy while also building strong analytical and communication skills. In the first year, students complete foundational courses such as Composition I and II, Introduction to American Government and Politics, oral communication, digital literacy and general education subjects like social sciences, history, statistics and fine arts. These courses help students develop essential academic skills and a basic understanding of political systems. In the second year, students begin focusing more on the major with courses like Exploring Politics and Introduction to Political Theory, while continuing general education in humanities, life and physical sciences. They also start minor courses, allowing them to gain additional knowledge in another area of interest.In the third year, the program becomes more specialized, with courses such as Comparative Politics, Public Policy and International Relations, which deepen students’ understanding of global political systems and decision-making processes. Students also choose political science electives based on their interests and may complete an internship or take a course in law and politics, providing valuable practical experience. Minor courses and general electives continue to support a well-rounded education. In the final year, students focus on advanced learning and specialization through additional political science electives and minor courses. A key component is the Research Seminar in Political Science, where students apply their knowledge to conduct research and analyze political issues in depth. Overall, this program prepares students for diverse career opportunities in government, law, public policy and related fields by combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience and critical thinking skills.
