COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Science curriculum is structured to provide students with a strong foundation in programming, mathematics, and computer systems, progressing into advanced topics such as networking, databases, and software engineering. In the first year, students take introductory courses including Python Programming, Java Programming, and Applied Calculus, while fulfilling general education and world language requirements. During the second year, students delve deeper into core computer science principles through courses like Data Structures and Algorithms, Discrete Mathematics, Computer Systems, and Programming II. They also explore Systems Programming and begin a collateral sequence to broaden their academic perspective. The third year introduces students to Linear Algebra, Programming Languages, Computer Networks, Database Systems, and Operating Systems, alongside interdisciplinary and humanities general education courses. These subjects build both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. In the final year, the program focuses on advanced concepts and capstone experiences. Courses include Software Engineering I and II, Computer Security, and Computer Science Theory. Students also complete electives in their major and free electives, allowing for specialization or broader learning. A required statistics course in Data Science emphasizes analytical skills.
