COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Public Administration at Metropolitan College of New York is a one-year, 36-credit program designed to develop strong, effective leaders in public service. Taught by experienced professionals from city, state, and federal agencies as well as NGOs, the program equips students with practical knowledge and real-world skills needed to create, implement, and manage public policy. With flexible learning options, students can choose a format that is primarily online or primarily in-person, making it suitable for working professionals. Graduates of the program have gone on to work in prominent organizations such as government agencies, the United Nations, the Department of Education, and nonprofit institutions.The curriculum is organized across three purpose-based semesters, each focusing on progressively advanced competencies. In the first semester, students build a foundation in research methods, public policy, and public administration, while also learning to identify opportunities for organizational change. The second semester emphasizes applied skills such as advanced research methods, budgeting and financial management, and organizational behavior, along with strategies for initiating and managing change within public and nonprofit organizations. In the final semester, students focus on program evaluation, public economics, and politics and policy, while developing long-range plans for service improvement.Throughout the program, students gain expertise in leadership, policy analysis, financial management, and organizational change. The curriculum integrates theory with practical application, ensuring that students are prepared to address complex public sector challenges.
